The teams made it to the finish line and the momentum only grew! The day was packed with last minute preparations followed by inspiring pitches, perfected over three days of training and practice.

International speaker, entrepreneur and founder of the Biz Launch Portal, Monique Blokzyl started the day with a workshop titled ”Great startups sell great stories”. The workshop encouraged the teams to tackle emotions and always present their idea’s impact on a grand scale. It was exactly what the teams needed to get really excited about the final pitches. The day followed up with one last intense mentoring session where teams put the last touches on their models and slide decks. Our mentors were impressed with how far the teams had come in such a short period of time “Ideas have developed dramatically over the past three days” said Naila Abou Khater, Director of Development & Marketing at Mishwar and Sprint Mentor. “You can see real development in ideas,” stressed another mentor, Jennifer Kanaan, Program Director at Eastline Academy, adding, “teams are really engaged, asking the right questions and listening to feedback.”

As the day went on, the teams submitted their pitch decks and gave a four minute pitch in a round robin semifinal round in front of the mentors. Top teams were shortlisted to pitch in front  the judges for the final round and selected to join Bootcamp’s follow-on acceleration program. The jury featured our very own CFO and co-founder Samer Azar, Speed@BDD CTO Fares Samara, Manager at the Office of the CEO at Bank Audi Randa Safah, and Oracle Country Manager, Alain Nohra. After 11 pitches and an intense round of questions and answers, the jury deliberated and decided on the Sprint winners, including two honorable mentions for Food Connect and Fundible. And so ended the startups’ first major journey in the Lebanese startup ecosystem with a powerful start and a lot of potential.

The Bootcamp startup program applications are now open, apply by April 16.
