Collecting customer or user feedback is the first step of any successful startup. A Landing Page, considered a version of a MVP (Minimum Viable Product), is an easy and fast way to collect data about what customers actually want without having to build your actual product/service just yet!

Landing Pages can create awareness around your product or service and capture email leads.

Let us break it down.

Email leads represent validation for your problem/solution and are a great basis for email marketing. Email marketing keeps you connected with prospective customers or users and is a great way to introduce the launch of your product, potentially leading to conversion. Conversion is the end-goal because conversion is where a customer who had previously signed up, becomes a paying customer.

But let’s not jump ship just yet; first we must validate.

Click here to apply to Bootcamp's Startup Sprint.

Validation is asking the question "if I build it, will they come?" And designing an effective Landing Page can help you answer just that so you don’t have to spend time and money developing a solution or product nobody wants. Instead, your potential customer can tell you… “I want to learn more, sign me up”, now that’s validation.

Below we’ve listed 8 of the top Landing Page builders to help you begin customer validation now. Each startup and solution has a different need so we have compared them based on different variables. Each of these online services are especially dedicated to lead generation and email capture.

Anything not listed above such as Customizable Templates, Responsiveness, Lead Generation Form Builders, basic Lead Management and Analytics etc., are generally standard among all the services.

Again, since each startup has a different need we’ve rounded up some other things to keep in mind.

  • Launchrock is free but that comes at a cost: the customer support is practically nonexistent. Launchrock focuses on pre-launch startups and validation. It has less theme variety, but a great referral program feature and viral lead capture. It may be good to note that you are unable to add a Privacy Policy for Google/FB advertising.
  • KickoffLabs focuses on collecting leads. It has excellent referral program features and viral lead capture. It is highly customizable and they have great customer service. The builder is easy to use but could use more features in design and editing.
  • Unbounce is focused on helping marketers lift conversion rate. It is extremely customizable but that can be intimidating for someone not familiar with coding or Dreamweaver. It is better fit for later stage startups or founders with some tech or design background.
  • BitBlox is great and has almost all the features a startup will need except the referral programs and viral lead generation.
  • Landingi is really well-designed, making it very easy to use. Similar to BitBlox, it also lacks referral programs and viral lead generation but as a basic Landing Page builder, Landingi is excellent.
  • Instapage is well, good. Just good. We liked Instapage, until we realized that the customer service was practically nonexistent (but unlike Launchrock, it’s not even free). Apart from that, it’s generally easy-to-use for early stage startups.

If you are still having trouble deciding which Landing Page builder to use, we can recommend starting with either Launchrock (because it’s free) or Landingi (because the design is great). From our experiences working through 100s of Landing Page designs with Bootcamp startups, our absolute top recommendation would be to build your Landing Page now. You can always change it later, but every day you collect leads is progress.

Remember, Landing Pages are about generating data, quickly. Let this guide speed up your choice and start reaching out to your customers, yesterday!

The Bootcamp startup program applications are now open, apply by April 16.
